Meggan Marshall, assistant principal at Blacksburg High School, was approved as the new principal at Auburn Middle School at last night’s school board meeting. She will assume her new role on July 1, 2017.

Stewart has a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in education from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has worked as the assistant principal at Blacksburg High School since 2012.

“I am excited to serve the Auburn community as the principal of Auburn High School,” said Stewart. “I look forward to helping prepare Auburn students to graduate career and college ready.”

Marshall has worked in Montgomery County Public Schools for 10 years, most recently as assistant principal at Blacksburg High School and principal at Harding Avenue Elementary School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory and Henry College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Radford University.

“I began my educational career in middle school and am glad to return to that environment,” said Marshall. “I am dedicated to ensuring each student has what he or she needs to be successful!”

“Mrs. Marshall’s focus on relationships combined with a dynamic and collaborative leadership style will be a great benefit to Auburn Middle,” said Superintendent Mark Miear. “I know that Mr. Stewart will continue the great work that has been underway at Auburn High.”

The school board also approved Guylene Wood-Setzer as assistant principal at Blacksburg High School. Chris Hewitt was approved as assistant principal at Christiansburg High School. He was previously principal at Floyd Elementary School in Floyd, Va.
